What made you want to work with Slam?

When I started my construction business during the COVID-19 pandemic, I was struggling.

Not just with managing the detailed logistics of my business but also with knowing what I personally needed in order to fully show up for myself and my team. I was stuck, and so was my business.

One day, Slam happened to reach out for help with a construction project.

I had to decline. I was way too overwhelmed. It was scary to even imagine what would have happened if I said yes to another construction project.

Then I learned that Slam was a coach—for people and teams.

So instead of taking on another client, I signed up to start coaching with Slam! instead.

What was the experience like?

My coaching relationship with Slam has been an invaluable support system for myself, my team, and my business.

When I started coaching with Slam, I was so immersed in my “monkey mind”—in the overwhelm, fear, and doubt—that I couldn’t see much else.

Slam helped me disengage from this part of myself through tools that helped me develop my emotional intelligence, which in turn helped me build the new, healthy habits I needed in order to grow.

Before long, our coaching relationship evolved beyond one-on-one coaching. Slam skillfully facilitated multiple successful leadership and all-hands staff retreats.

Through a series of activities, games and guided reflections, my team engaged with abstract concepts in a powerful, entertaining way that allowed everyone to communicate openly about values, feelings, and goals.

It was really impactful to witness you working directly with each of my teammates during the group work. You have a powerful way of reaching out and making contact with people even when they are guarded and skeptical.

What specific results have you achieved?

The four years my team and I spent working with Slam were nothing short of transformative.

During my time with Slam, I built new, healthy habits and learned how to:

  • Recognize and accept my limits, and slow down when needed (with less anxiety)
  • Easefully address and resolve interpersonal conflicts
  • Experience the joy of consciously building a team culture based on core values
  • A much deeper well of faith in my ability and my team's ability to navigate challenges
  • We are all listening to each other in a much deeper and more respectful way than we every have been before.
  • I act from a deep-rooted sense of gratitude and generosity

Slam’s effect on my team has been profound, too. After the team retreat, we’re working with more cohesion and clarity than ever before—toward a shared vision and purpose.

My team has become more trusting, more productive, and more energized. And our workplace culture is the best it’s ever been.

Would you recommend working with Slam?

I highly recommend Slam to anyone interested in recognizing their limiting beliefs and developing new habits that reflect their goals and values.

Slam has been the catalyst that my team needed to move to the next level.

I’m so grateful for all the ways coaching and facilitation have steered us in the right direction—and helped us co-create the business I always dreamed of building.
